Slam Dunk have posted the above image on their site to announce that an announcement will be made regarding the now-infamous Slam Dunk Festival on Februry 15th. We’ll keep you posted with all the details here on CtrlAltRock!

Slam Dunk 2012 has been announced for both 26th May in Leeds University and 27th May at the Hatfield Campus of Herts University. Here are just 10 bands out of over 50 artists, so I’m confident the festival can again deliver a lineup of bands that everyone will agree is amazing value. I also thought it was extra important this year to demonstrate the value so tickets have been frozen at 2011 prices!”

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 17th February with day tickets priced at  £32.50 and £36 aftershow. From and 24 hr cc hotline is 0871 220 0260.

As if last week’s announcement for this year’s Slam Dunk Festival wasn’t enough to send you running to buy your tickets one week on we’ve got yet another bunch of bands added to the line-up! Joining the likes of  3oh!3 and pop punk legends The Starting Line are Anti- Flag, We Are The In Crowd, Goldfinger, A Rocket To The Moon and VersaEmerge.

As it’s the 10th anniversary of Slam Dunk, founder Ben Ray had this to say:

“Being the 10

th anniversary of Slam Dunk it was important for me to have a lineup that truly represents the way the scene has evolved over the last 10 years. I am extremley happy to have some of the bands that inspired me to start the club night from which the festival evolved from.

Returning to Leeds University for a 5th year, 2011 will not doubt surely see a another repeat of one of the best Festival atmospheres at any rock festival anywhere in the world. Going back to Hatfield for it’s 2nd year any teething problems of last year’s event have been ironed out with a different layout and the main stage and merch village being outdoors. Increased and improved security will ensure a smooth flow of people between all the stages. The dates have also been swapped around to give the venue time to recover from it’s Summer Ball on the Friday night which caused us problems last year.”

Tickets are on sale now from all the usual outlets – be sure to snap them up asap!

So, Slam Dunk Festival returns for another year! Despite the problems faced last year at Hertfordshire University, the festival returns to Hatfield as well as Leeds University. This year there is a bit of a switcharoo, traditionally Leeds was always on the Sunday, but this year sees Leeds on Saturday 28th May (which the CtrlAltRock girls are a bit sad face about!) and Hatfield is on Sunday 29th May. The change in date is apparently to allow for Herts Uni to prepare for Slam Dunk after their Summer Ball on the Friday, which they say will help will ease the problems of last year, allowing them to move the merch village outside. Let’s hope for less rain then!

Whilst not the headliners, the thing CtrlAltRock are most excited for is the reunion of Drive Thru pop-punk legends, The Starting Line. They will be joined by co-headliners Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish and also on the line-up are Mayday Parade, Framing Hanley, MC Lars, We Are The Ocean, Deaf Havana and 3oh!3. More acts will be announced, so we will be sure to keep you posted!
